The Sketchbook Project - 2011

we've posted about the fantastic art house coop before - they organize massive art projects in which anyone all over the world can participate. the final submissions then go on tour and/or are exhibited in the brooklyn art library.

one of their most popular recurring projects is the sketchbook project:

sign up to participate (costs $25) and they will send you a blank moleskin
choose a theme or have them pick one for you:

• Choose a random theme for me
• In flight
• Facing forward
• Storybook
• Help!
• It will be fun, I swear
• Sleepless
• Lines and grids
• Figuring you out
• A record year for rainfall
• Jackets, blankets, and sheets
• Inside/outside
• I'm sorry I forgot you
• Things found on restaurant napkins
• (your name here)
• First thing in the morning, last thing at night

• It must be...
• Nightmare
• Lights in the distance
• It's raining dogs and cats
• Revenge
• Below the surface
• Trading forever
• And then there was none
• I'm a scavenger
• Happy thoughts
• The view from up here
• This is not a sketchbook
• Face in the crowd
• Things that changed other things
• Dirigibles and submersibles

then fill it in any way you want and send it back!

Each book will be given a barcode so it can be easily cataloged into The Brooklyn Art Library system. Once cataloged, artists will be able to track where on the tour their book is viewed and how many times someone pulled it from the shelf.

you can sign up for the 2011 tour until october 31st, 2010. postmark your book by january 15th, 2011.
